Is it Time to Rebrand Your Life?

Is it Time to Rebrand Your Life?

There is a lot of buzz surrounding personal branding. Lots of focus goes into consistency and dependability. The reality is people are far more complex than they have you believe and when it comes to your life, it is not so easy to rebrand yourself. Although you may be complex and have lots of interests, rebranding is a process that takes time, especially following a crisis like addiction, one which changes the trajectory of your life forever.

Focus on the Positive

Even when you think you don’t have what it takes to succeed in this new skin, think again. When you focus on the negative (I don’t have experience, haven’t worked in months or years, need more skills…) than you are looking at the wrong things. To focus on the positive is to give yourself an opportunity to shine even when you’re not sure how to go about it. You likely have many good qualities you have overlooked because you’re busy thinking about all the ways you’re not measuring up. Take a step in the right direction by owning who you are now, what you bring to the table, and how you can up your personal branding game.

Focus on the Future

When you spend time looking back, it is easy to lose focus on what is ahead. If you know what goals you have in mind, you can more easily set yourself up for success in the future. While your track record in the past may have stunk or may have been awesome (for awhile, at least), before addiction derailed it, you can regain your footing. Get focused on where you are now in recovery and how you can rebrand your life to focus on achieving little steps that lead to bigger achievements.

Expand Your Network

If you want to expand your network, it can help broaden your brand. Sometimes people you knew back in the day are not the greatest influence for you in sobriety, or in life. If you have old friends who stand by you, support recovery, and will help you achieve greatness, then great. You may change while they may not and that is okay, too. It is okay to get new friends and find some new ways to spend your days.

Re-branding yourself takes time when you are focusing on achieving specific goals. You don’t have to have just one brand, you can be different brands over time as you evolve into more of the likeness that you want to become. Proactively choose how you want to be, how you want to be seen, and make it happen.
